Plan and administer speech language pathology ev aluations and plan andimplement appropriate treatment. Document provisio n of such care,utilizes support staff and participate in special project s asdesignated.
Work Performed
CLINICIAL SPEECH PATHO LOGIST DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Independently maintains a clinical c aseload in designated clinicalcluster area
Provides evidence based eval uation and treatment to diverse, medicallychallenging patient population s
Provides quality service delivery techniques that facilitate optimums ervices to meet patient needs being sensitive to patient's age, social,c ultural, educational and vocational background.
Provides appropriate wr itten and/or verbal education on communicationand/or swallowing disorder s to patients, families, and professionals
Completes required documenta tion accurately and within the designatedtime frame which may include re port writing, billing, and/ orprofessional education database
Works col laboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team as well aswith Division colleagues to promote best patient care standards
Participates in the peer review process
Participates in performance improvement initiatives within assignedwork area under thesupervision of Clinical Coordinator
Takes initiative to remain current in clinical practice throughlectures , literature, and other educational opportunities
Organizes daily sched ule to prioritize responsibilities including theintegration of meetings,responsibilities, or tasks into schedulewithout negative impact on pati ent care or productivity
Maintains confidentiality pertaining to patien t care and all Divisionpolicies and procedures

Creates a direct impact/change on clinical practice based on currentliterature, c onference-based knowledge, and/or state of the art practiceunder the dir ection of Clinical Coordinator
Serves as a clinical resource to colleag ues and other medicalprofessionals
Assists the Clinical Coordinator in building collaborativerelationships and teamwork between colleagues and other professionalstaff within and external to DUHS
Provides educationa l opportunities relevant to clinical practice whichmay include inservice s, external presentations, lunch and learn, orsupport groups with the in put of the Clinical Coordinator
Obtains specialized training or certifi cation
When requested, serves as a mentor for new staff, clinical fello ws,students, or student observers
When requested, provides opportunitie s for student observation
Under direction of Clinical Coordinator, assi sts in providing trainingto clinical staff in new or advanced skills
Un der direction of Clinical Coordinator , assists with new staffcredential ing and/or orientation in specified clinical area
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to read, analyze and interpret prof essionaljournals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.Abil ityto write reports, business correspondence and proceduremanuals.Abilit y to effectively present information and respond toquestions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the generalpublic.Ability to define problems, collect data, establish factsand draw valid conclusions. Abil ity to interpret an extensive varietyof technical instructions in mathem atical or diagram form and deal withseveral abstract and concrete variab les.

Minimum Qualifications
Education
Masters degree in Speech Language Pathology from an accredited university program.
Experience
Previous medical setting experience preferred, although other relevant clinical experience considered.
Degrees, Licensures, Certifications
-- Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology issued by ASHA -- NC License in Speech Language Pathology issued by the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Speech and Language Pathologists and Audiologists -- Temporary License in Speech Language Pathology issued by the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Speech and Language Pathologists and Audiologists
