This position is in the Speech Pathology Section, of the Neurology & Rehabilitation Service at the Oklahoma City VA Health Care System (OKC VAHCS). The duties and responsibilities are carried out throughout the healthcare system including all clinical and patient care areas involved with the service. Incumbent is the Section Chief for the Speech-Language Pathology Section. Applicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met. Basic Requirements: United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. English Language Proficiency. Speech-language pathologists must be proficient in spoken and written English. Education and Experience. A master's degree or its equivalent in speech-language pathology, communication disorders, or a directly related field from an accredited college or university and one year of creditable experience OR A doctoral degree in speech-language pathology, communication disorders and sciences or a related field, from an accredited college or university. "Accredited" means a college or university recognized by a regional accreditation organization and a speech-language pathology academic program recognized by the Council on Academic Accreditation of the American Speech Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). Licensure. For those grades that require licensure (GS-12 and above), the incumbent must hold a full, current, and unrestricted license in a State, Territory, Commonwealth, or the District of Columbia. The S-LP must maintain full, current, and unrestricted licensure/registration. Loss of Credential. An employee in this occupation who fails to obtain licensure/certification/ registration within the required time frame, or who fails to maintain the required licensure/certification/ registration must be removed from the occupation, which may also result in termination of employment. Grade Determination: GS-13 Licensure. The incumbent must hold a full, current, and unrestricted license in a State, Territory, Commonwealth, or the District of Columbia. Experience. Completion of one year of professional experience comparable to the next lower GS-12 grade level. Preferred Experience: The Oklahoma City VA Neurology & Rehabilitation Service seeks a full-time Speech and Language pathologist to lead our Speech and Language Pathology, SLP Section in collaboration w/ the Service Chief. Preference will be given to experience in leadership, team building and VA knowledge. Must be able to lead and practice in interdisciplinary care settings and collaborate w/ healthcare professionals of various disciplines and backgrounds.
