About Tucker Maxon School
Tucker Maxon School was founded in 1947 by parents of children who were deaf. These families wanted their deaf children to learn to listen and talk like the rest of their family. Today we are a small private school located in SE Portland, Oregon that continues this mission of served children who are deaf or hard of hearing. We have approximately 100 students birth to 5th grade. Approximately 1/3 of our students are deaf or hard of hearing who learn to listen and talk right alongside their typically hearing peers. We foster Creativity – Confidence – Conversation – Community.
