Job Summary:

A licensed Audiologist of the Children’s Therapy Services Department is responsible for direct and/or indirect care of patients served through the Erlanger Health System. This individual will provide diagnostic testing for a primarily pediatric population (infant-21years old).  Audiologists employed by Children’s Hospital at Erlanger provide care in outpatient, inpatient, Neonatal ICU, and other specialty clinic areas.

Job responsibilities will include:

1. Evaluate hearing in children birth to 21 years of age in inpatient and outpatient settings.

2. Occasional evaluation of adult hearing in the inpatient setting

3. Complete electrophysiologic testing (sedated and non-sedated ABR)

4. Complete age appropriate diagnostic audiological evaluation, including tymponomentry, acoustic reflex testing and otoacoustic emissions.

5. Maintain accurate, complete and timely documentation

6. Participate in the development of evidence based protocols and guidelines

7. Provide Education to parents and other professionals working with children with hearing impairment.

Department Position Summary:

The employee must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients at risk for hearing impairment as a result of injury, disease, or other causes. The employee must participate in team meetings and discharge planning. They must comply with the standards as set down by the American Speech and Hearing Association regarding treatment procedures and professional ethics. The employee must comply with standards described in the departmental policies and procedures.

Education:

Required:  Master’s Degree in Audiology from an accredited school of Audiology

Preferred: Doctorate of Audiology (AuD) from an accredited school of Audiology

Experience:

Required: Diagnostic testing and interpretation in the pediatric population

Preferred: Neonatal experience and ABR experience

Position Requirement(s): License/Certification/Registration

Required: Tennessee Licensure, Audiology; Certification of Clinical Competency and/or board certification from the American Academy of Audiology;  

BLS completed prior to going to unit/department and maintained going forward.
