This position is for an expert software developer to work as part of a team that is providing analysis, design in support of clinical research. The role will work to develop, create, implement features of web-based Electronic Data Capture (EDC) systems and maintain data security and integrity while also contributing to database management and manipulation of survey data sets. This position will also be engaged in data and software management applications design and development to support extraction, analysis, and reporting of data.
Successful candidates will possess familiarity with core concepts, practices, and procedures in database design, programming, systems development, and software engineering (including, but not limited to, object-oriented techniques and languages, database principles and programming, and open-source methodologies). Basic familiarity with clinical processes and clinical terminology, data privacy practices laws as well as ability to learn new technology and practices are needed.
Department Summary :
The mission of the Vanderbilt Center for Quantitative Sciences (CQS) is to coordinate and integrate the work of Vanderbilt University and Medical Center quantitative scientists across the disciplines of biostatistics, bioinformatics, biomathematics, computational biology, biomedical engineering, and other related fields, with the end goal of building bridges and streamlining quantitative collaboration for improved biomedical research. CQS members have expertise in basic science as well as clinical/translational studies, with a particular interest in high-dimensional data, including proteomic, genomic, lipidomic, and metabolomic research. The center is available to all university and medical center investigators, offering collaborative support spanning traditional statistical inputs (e.g., experimental design, sample size determination, power analysis, conventional data analysis and results interpretation), to novel statistical and bioinformatic approaches for modern technologies (e.g., advanced sample size determination for next-generation sequencing, multivariate modeling for high-dimensional data), to systems and computational biology approaches for asking questions and modeling results. Expected responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Interface with stakeholders to obtain design requirements
Design and build databases in REDCap to facilitate capture of research data
Design and build web applications that aggregate data from REDCap for analysis
Seek feedback from others as necessary to ensure decisions do not conflict with business needs.
Create routines for outputting health information data from systems into other analyzable formats.
Develop data extraction, reporting, and analysis programs for the health information systems as needed.
Use advanced problem-solving skills to troubleshoot a variety of issues.
Use creative thinking to achieve goals and improve processes.
Work with investigators, researchers, and the end users of the health information systems to maintain data security and integrity.
Serve as a resource to team members.
Collaborate with team members to ensure current and future needs are being met.

Performs all programming in light of these policies and guidelines
