Under the general direction of the program administrator, and in accordance with the established policies and procedures of Ingham Intermediate School District, the Teacher Consultant for Deaf and Hard of Hearing will provide direct and consultative services for deaf and hard of hearing students enrolled in regular or special education programs to facilitate the student's educational program. Full approval as a Teacher Consultant for Deaf and Hard of Hearing or eligible for full approval preferred.
Bachelor’s Degree with a valid Michigan Certificate and an endorsement for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, eligible as a Teacher Specialist under the Ingham ISD Special Education Plan.
Minimum of three years of teaching experience, not less than two years of which shall be teaching in a special education program.
Knowledge of special education laws, rules and regulations.
Knowledge of techniques necessary to develop appropriate instructional plans for deaf and hard of hearing students.
Interpersonal skills to involve parents and teacher in effectively implementing appropriate educational programs for deaf and hard of hearing students.
Knowledge of expanded core curriculum for students who are deaf and hard of hearing.
