Responsible for providing professional working conditions for employees.
Ensures the therapy department staff performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
Assists with development of the budget for the therapy department in collaboration with the DOT, CEO and CFO. Manages costs associated with personnel, equipment and supplies.
Responsible for staffing plans, management of therapy hours per patient day, and quality of work of therapy staff.
Assures compliance of the therapy department with education/in-service requirements/orientation and competencies .
Coordinate and develop in-services and presentations in collaboration with the Clinical Leadership Team in a coordinated effort to inform direct care providers and related departments across the continuum of care.
Leads monthly staff meetings and communicates information to/from management and leadership.
Promotes rehabilitation philosophy and practice and encourages staff development. Assists to review and evaluate risk and quality indicators, patient satisfaction results, and outcomes in order to continually improve performance and outcomes; communicates this information to the therapy department.
Performs management activities including interviewing, hiring, evaluating, counseling, and performance evaluations of staff in the therapy department.
Assists with optimization in adoption and performance of best practices among physical therapists, occupational therapists, and speech-language pathologists.
Assures occurrence of appropriate documentation, including documentation of medical necessity for provision of services; monitors completion and revisions to the Interdisciplinary Plan of Care.
Assures education and training is provided to therapy co-workers on Functional Independent Measure (FIM); assures timely and accurate FIM assessments and scoring are performed.
Assists in the data collection and interpretation of clinical outcomes for Mercy Rehabilitation Hospital therapy services.
Assures therapy attendance and participation in team conferences.
Ensures that daily therapy requirements are met.
Graduate of accredited therapy program. PT, OT, SLP with current licensure in the state. Master's or Doctorate degree preferred.
Minimum of three years of previous therapy management preferred.
Demonstrated ability to plan, coordinate, evaluate and direct activities of clinical personnel; effective oral and written communication skills, in English with additional languages preferred; proficiency in basic computer skills required.
Qualifications: Education: Graduate of an accredited B.S., M.S. or DPT program. Licensure: Must hold current licensure in the State of Missouri. Experience: Clinical professional for at least 5 years; prior supervisory experience recommended but not required. Certifications: Must have a current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider card or complete a course within their probation period. Other: Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: Must have general knowledge of Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility documentation requirements. Working Conditions, Mental and Physical Requirements: Patient care may include heavy lifting and extensive bending and standing. Equipment Used: May occasionally work with office equipment; i.e. copy machines, telephones, computer. Must demonstrate competency in equipment used for the delivery of modalities.
